TTD 97 – Visit the Musée Bourdelle

Five minutes walk away from the busy Gare Montparnasse is the tranquil Musée Bourdelle. The musuem is located in the old studio of French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle (1861–1929). It is an example of Parisian ateliers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and was Bourdelle’s active studio from 1885–1929. The museum is open daily, except Mondays. Admission to the permanent collections is free.

I placed my bags in the excellent Left Luggage at Montparnasse station for 5 euros and headed around the corner to Musée Bourdelle. What a glorious museum it is, with a cool garden with sculpture nooks and towering statues. I wandered up to the cafe terrace, which was even quieter (I had it all to myself), to have a coffee.
