Jean-Marie Chauvel was a member of Raymond Fonsèque’s Trombone Ensemble. A popular sight on TV, the group featured 11 trombonists in matching comedic costumes.

Martine Clary (DANSEUSES)

Dancer Martine Clary was a member of the Paris Opera Ballet, Palais Garnier, and Opéra Comique but she will be best remembered for her long association with Jacques Garnier. She worked with Garnier at the Théâtre du Silence and Groupe de recherche chorégraphique de l’Opéra de Paris (GRCOP) for more than 15 years. Clary was the ballet master at the Junior Ballet du Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse de Paris.

Christiane Tissot (COMEDIENNES)

Christiane Tissot made a name for herself as a touring actor beyond the boundaries of Paris. Her first performances on the stage were with the quintessential touring company, Les Tréteaux de France. Founded by actor Jean Danet, the company toured France, setting up in towns and villages lacking cultural facilities. Alongside her stage career she appeared in a number of cinema releases including the cult classic F… comme Fairbanks, starring Patrick Dewaere and Miou-Miou.

Singer and actor Jean-Pierre Charbonnier began his career in radio at Radio Monte Carlo before becoming a host on Europe 1 in the 1960s. In the 1980s he was a regular voice on Radio France Internationale, hosting a number of popular slots, including Quotidien Chaîne Est, Le mot mystérieux and Carré d’as. As a singer he released one single on the Barclay label, Comme Les Plages En Hiver.

Caroline Cler (COMÉDIENNES)

Singer and actress Caroline Cler was an active recording artist in the 1960s, often performing songs and poems from past centuries and genres. She was a regular voice on children’s records of the era, such as Don Quixote (Antonia), the Tintin series (Bianca Castafiore), Babar records (Celeste) and many French Disneyland releases (The Jungle Book, Sleeping Beauty, and Alice in Wonderland). In film, Cler appeared in the Russian co-production Tretya molodost (1965, as a singer) and later in Tango (with Jean Rochefort), All Together (with Jane Fonda and Geraldine Chaplin), and Grand départ. No stranger to the theatre, she appeared sporadically on the Parisian stage (Théâtre de l’Atelier, Les Trois Baudets, Les Trois Baudets, Théâtre du Palais-Royal, Théâtre Antoine etc).

Dominique Davray – COMEDIENNES

Dominique Davray made her film debut in the late 1940s playing supporting roles, portraying attractive or frivolous women with strong characters. She is best remembered as Julie alongside Simone Signoret in Jacques Becker ‘s Casque d’Or (1952), and as the fatalistic governess in Agnès Varda ‘s Cléo de 5 à 7 (1962). From the mid-1960s onwards Davray played character roles, representing more mature women, particularly nuns, nurses, concierges, prostitutes or even farmers. Her versatility as an actress opened up all cinematic genres to her talents including crime classics (Touchez pas au grisbi, 1954), thrillers (To Catch a Thief, 1955), adventure (Cartouche, 1962) and several comedies (alongside Louis de Funès).

Square Charles Péguy
Charles-Péguy Square is the largest municipal square in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. Its name honors the French writer Charles Péguy (1873-1914).
