La Maison La Roche (Le Corbusier) – Things to do in the 16th arrondissement

I visited the stylish La Maison La Roche, designed by Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret in 1923–1925. I booked the first slot at 10am, and was so fortunate that I was the only one in the whole building for the first 30-40mins. It was really peaceful, and beautiful watching the trees and the Paris buildings through the slices of window.

You have to wear these over-slippers on your shoes so when I walked I didn’t even make a sound, which kind of added to the otherworldliness.

My favourite bit was the toilet cistern which curved round the room, but I liked the domestic touches too. Don’t be afraid to ring on the doorbell when you first arrived, and ask any questions, they were really friendly and knowledgeable at the Maison La Roche.
