Located at 33 rue Manin, Chalet Édouard was originally built to be used as a wine and liqueur merchant. Known as the Gouault Room, named after it’s owner, it was ideally located opposite the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, and regularly served as a conference venue for socio-political groups (also as a concert and banquet hall).
In 1904, it was sold to Edouard François Van den Bosch who would rename it Chalet Édouard. The multipurpose shop/restaurant accommodated up to 1,200 people and enjoyed considerable success, hosting parties, concerts, weddings, banquets, meetings, and conferences. The Chalet Édouard kept serving customers until 1963, when the building was demolished and the plot was redeveloped.
